Do you really need to hate Raila or Kibaki

A lot has been happening since the whistle for the GE was blown. And some people have lost control of their senses, pouring vitriol on aspirants they dont like.

The following is a response to a hate mail that I answered after the author sought to demonise another.

I hope I was able to provide an answer to the young man.

Elias,

There is hope of course. When you and me will get to those offices and clean up the mess that has been created by the ruling. The problem is that it is may not be possible any time soon because we do not have the money.

Secondly, politics is becoming a generational thing where sons and daughters of the Lancaster generation inherit what their fathers acquired.

At times I am so disappointed when I see millions of people go hungry and wallow in abject poverty while politicians criss cross the country like termites, hoodwinking the people that they represent their interests.

Yet because he comes from my "tribe" we miss out on what they are - pretenders who want us to believe that they are championing our rights.

And for me this is where we part ways, because I know for sure that it is more of self interest and fame than anything else. They are in a class of their own and believe you me Kibaki does not hate Raila, neither does Raila hate Kalonzo or Kibaki. They buddies, run businesses together and believe you me Raila has nothing against Moi. All that matters for them alll is who is controlling the carrot.

As regards corruption, I have never heard of a politician who is as clean as a slate. They all have their small skeletons in the closets. My advice don't trust any politician. See them for what they are.

Pray for peace that you can wake up daily to pursue your life.

Hi Mwangi,
was just reading your email to Michel about politics and I must say I found it rather captivating yet discouraging. Is there no hope for Kenya when it comes to politics and politicians?

Right now I am of the opinion (may be misguided) that all of our politicians are corrupt, is that possible? Looking at the recent nominations and the vote buying, is there really any unblemished politician? And can a normal Kenyan succeed in the realm of politics without getting his hands dirty?

I hope for a response.

Elias.

Michel,
This is the epitome of hate. If it is not pure hate laced with malice then I dont know what else it can be.

Facts you ought to know about politics and politicians
That Kibaki and Raila are in a class of their own. They are not enemies and what counts for them is how they will advance their class interests.
That whether Raila or Kibaki wins, none of them will ever see the inside of jail for economic crimes they have committed in this country. Justice is for the rich and the law is for the poor.
That on 27th 28th and 29th whether it is Raila or Kibaki who wins you still have to come to work. And if you dont, your boss will be hand to give you a disciplinary letter.
So enjoy the theatre of the absurd staged by politicians and love them for what they are.
