Who will have the last laugh?

Seems like the old man in the big house is finally getting his hands dirty,don't you think?

The president has always been blamed for beng lack lustre,timid,aloof,unconcerned but the biggest oversight I think is calling him an amature politician.Why?



Well,less than 5 months to the polls and who is sitting pretty?The ODM vessel(as my friend likes to call it) is smack in the middle of a storm.What about the old man?Happy as a Lark! He is just starting to set the scene for the december show down.Enter Mwiraria,enter Muite.



Former finance minister,David Mwiraria is back-less than three weeks after the First Lady hinted on his come back when she payed his home turf a visit .Kibki seems to think the corruption ghosts of the Anglo Leasing saga have been exorcised from the wananchi's conscience.So what better way to capitalise on it than to start putting all your ducks in one neat row?Well,arguably,Mwiraria will boost the Central province vote basket-there is a tidy number of votes in that province-well over 3 million!What percentage does Mwiraria hold? Significant I hear.

And the Safina ship( I don't think it qualifies to be called an Ark yet!) has docked outside president Kibaki's front door! The chairman-well respected lawyer and Parliamentarian-Kabete Mp Paul Muite says-"we are behind you mzee!" Never mind the fact that he (Muite) has teemed up with the opposition on numerous occassions to protest,decry and accuse Kibaki and his governmnt.As they say...there are no permanent enemies in politics.

So what does all of this mean? Kibaki ain't no daft politician-he has learned alot from his recent warming up to the proffessor of politics himself-retired President Moi.according to me,Moi has only lost once-during the 2002 elelctions.(Did he really lose?)

So in just two days-Kibaki has wooed 2 politicians who are quite significant-(and their followers of course!) as the elections draw closer.So the question that begs - is the man from Othaya going to have the last laugh? I mean all his ducks seem to be lining up nicely on the shelf while the opposition seems to be grappling with unity.Only time(less than 5 months!) will tell.
